WSBZ 106.3 - Music In The Schools

As part of our commitment to smooth jazz, WSBZ has created “Music In the Schools”.

This local charity effort uses proceeds from The Seabreeze Jazz Festival and other WSBZ Smooth Jazz Concerts to provide funding for music scholarships, jazz band clinics, new instrument purchases, and more in our local Okaloosa and Walton County schools.
This is our way of supporting music in our local school system by bringing students face-to-face with the top talent in contemporary smooth jazz. Students at Niceville High School, Ft. Walton Beach High School, Lewis Middle School, Destin Middle School. South Walton High School, Seaside Neighborhood School, and Butler Elementary School have participated in this program in the past.

Artists such as Acoustic Alchemy, Jeff Kashiwa, Greg Adams, and others have been part of this program. In 2007, trumpeter Rick Braun and guitarist Steve Oliver will be conducting jazz clinics in conjunction with the 2007 Seabreeze Jazz Festival. Two annual High School Music Scholarships are awarded as part of the Music In the Schools effort, as well. Plus, local jazz band students at all area high schools receive free admission to all of WSBZ events, including the Seabreeze Jazz Festival and A Peter White Christmas.
